Create your own 3D sculptural embroidered butterfly with this beautiful hand embroidery PDF Instruction Booklet. Created by combining Raised Embroidery techniques with traditional Silk Shading, this instruction booklet contains everything you need to produce your own hand embroidered butterfly!
The kit list below is an overview of the materials required to complete this project. A detailed kit list will be provided within the booklet with recommended suppliers.
2x Size 10 or 12 embroidery needles
1x Large embroidery needle (Chenille size 20 or similar)
5x DMC embroidery threads in your chosen butterfly colour palette
1x Black DMC thread for the body
Sharp embroidery scissors
Small tube of UHU Textile Glue
Heat erasable Frixion pen for design transfer
Thin white paper covered wire
1x Piece of silk organza
1x Copper Fil À Gant thread
1x Copper passing thread
1x Piece of cream linen for mounting
An embroidery frame to tension your fabric
You can use a seat frame or a slate frame depending on your setup. I stitched mine using an Elbesee seat frame, but any sturdy embroidery frame will work.
This instruction booklet is slightly more advanced than the other designs - I would recommend trying one of the other designs before this project depending on your previous stitching experience.
